Sharing the single-line diagram with a QR sticker

Turn on sharing and your client gets a link to their floor plan and single-line diagram. Stick the QR sticker in the distribution board: whoever scans it later sees the diagram and your contact details.

How to turn on sharing

The Project tab has a Share with the client block. Turn on Share via a link and Volter publishes the diagram. You copy the link, or open it yourself to see what your client sees.

If you change the project afterwards, your client does not see it straight away. Volter tells you there are changes your client cannot see yet, and only when you click Update does the link get the new version. A diagram you are still working on never reaches your client.

What your client sees

Your client opens the link on their phone, without an account or app. At the top are your logo, your name and buttons to call or email you. Below come the floor plan and the single-line diagram, sheet by sheet, with pinch or double-tap to zoom, and the date of the latest version.

The QR sticker for the distribution board

Choose Print QR sticker and a format: an A4 label sheet with 24 labels of 70 x 37 mm for an ordinary printer, or a Brother QL (62 x 29 mm) or Dymo LabelWriter (89 x 36 mm) if you already have a label printer. On an A4 sheet you choose which label to use, so a partly used sheet is not wasted. Volter turns it into a PDF at actual size.

The sticker carries the QR code, your name, your phone number and your logo.

When there is a fault or an extension years later, you don't have to search for the folder with the inspection report. The sticker hangs where the diagram is needed. Your client, or whoever works on it later, sees right away which breaker belongs to which circuit, and has your contact details at hand.

Turning off or replacing the link

Turn off sharing and whoever uses the link or the sticker no longer sees the diagram, only that you have disabled the link. Turn sharing back on later and the same sticker works again. With Create new link the old link stops at once, including on a sticker already in the board: then you print a new one.

Questions from installers

Does my client need an account or an app?

No. The link opens in the browser of any phone, tablet or computer.

Does my client see every change straight away?

No, only when you click Update. Until then they see the last published version, with its date. A diagram you are still working on does not reach your client.

What if the house is sold?

The sticker stays in the board and works as long as sharing is on. If you don't want the previous owner to have access any more, create a new link and stick on a new sticker.

Which printer do I need?

An ordinary office printer with A4 label sheets of 70 x 37 mm will do. If you have a Brother QL or Dymo LabelWriter label printer, you print straight onto the roll.
